My Daily Structure

Finding a balance

I find having a structure to my day helps me frame the time available and gives meaning to it and my life.

I worked with Les Morgan in summer 2010 delivering a series of leadership workshops to sixth formers in Gordonstoun. He has developed a framework called Q-four. He says that to be a successful leader you need to be in balance with the four quotients; Physical (P), Intellectual (I), Emotional (E) and Spiritual (S) and recognise how each quotient influences the other. I realised that this didn’t just apply to leadership, it applies to me living a rich and fulfilling life. I want the structure of my day to include the four quotients and be sufficiently flexible and practical. I find I am challenged when travelling and when I am in different environments and it would be so easy not to follow it. I don’t follow it to the minute and sometimes certain things don’t get done. I don’t beat myself up if I don’t follow it for whatever reason. It’s an aspiration. I am disciplined around my meditation because of the benefits I get from it. I am amazed at the difference it has made in my life. I look at my structure as a way of looking after myself and making sure that there is some “Me” time in my life.

So, this is my daily structure:
