Rainbow Healing

"I believe the children are our future
Teach them
well and let them lead the way
Show
them all the beauty they possess inside"
Michael Masser & Linda Creed
(sung by Whitney Houston)
Rainbow
I
use the term "Rainbow" for a number of reasons.
For
as long as I can remember I have always been enchanted by rainbows.
Their pure natural beauty stops me dead in my tracks in wonder and
gratitude for mother nature and the magic of the Universe.
As a
child, I was captivated by the tale of Noah and the Ark and I am sure
that my spiritual guides use the rainbow to let me know that however
hard life gets it's going to be ok. Very often (more often than
coincidence) when life gets tough they send me a rainbow. It can be a
prism of light, or a picture of one in a shop window or a fully fledged
one in the sky it always comes just when I need it either because I am
in need or just when my faith in this spiritual stuff starts to dip.
The
use of rainbow flags has a long tradition; they are displayed in many
cultures around the world as a sign of diversity and inclusiveness, of
hope and of yearning.
Being a gay man, I know only too well how it feels to be living my life
on the edge of inclusion and exclusion of mainstream society. It does
have its advantages as well as its disadvantages and I wouldn't change
it for the world. Having been on the receiving end of homophobia and
heterosexism for many years I have learned that there is a need for
acceptance within society of all the different flavours and by all the
different flavours of human being. And its not just about being gay its
about being old, disabled, being a different colour or creed too. We
need to value each other for what each of us bring into the melting pot.
I
have done a lot of work on my "Self" to learn to love my "Self" both on
my own and with the help of some truly wonderful people. I hope and I
yearn for the day when there is a critical mass of people who know how
to love themselves because when there is, this world will be a much
happier and peaceful place. My experience so far has led me to believe
that all the ills in the world both between people and in the
environment are as a result of someone not sufficiently liking or loving
their "Self".
Healing
The
term “healing” means to make whole.
